Fishing, Kayaking, Hiking -  All Near the City

The Grand River, Michigan's largest river way, runs right next to the hotel and is a beautiful place to float on the water. Boat launches can be found at Riverside Park, about a half mile from us. Fishing on the river you may catch smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike, various types of trout and salmon, as well as other varieties. A peaceful day with some fresh air and enjoying the nature found right here in the city is a great way to spend your time here!

As mentioned, Riverside Park is a beautiful park just across the river. The park has bike and walking paths along the river, lagoons for fishing and nature study, boat launching ramps, ball diamonds, disc golf courses, and is host to many community festivals and events. White Pine Trail begins at Riverside Park, continues through Rockford, and goes all the way to Cadillac. This is a 93.5 mile trail that finds it's way through 5 counties.  Parts of the trail are gravel, so if you plan a long journey check the website first to know where the gravel and unpaved areas are before getting on your mountain bike.  The trails in Riverside park are paved.

The Rogue River is a tributary of the Grand River located in Rockford, about 30 minutes north of Grand Rapids. This beautiful area is well suited for fishing, kayaking, birdwatching and much more.

The Rogue River is highlighted by the Rockford Dam. Surrounded by beautiful walkways and close to shops and restaurants, it is worth the quick trip north.
